I've been reading up on Android in an effort to understand how to develop for this platform. I must say I'm not much of a fan of Java, but if I must learn it in order to develop for a popular platform I'm not afraid of it. So far I'm pretty much understanding the concepts behind the technology and I"m sure there won't be any showstoppers involved. I'm gong to have to read up a little on how Java does things, but this too is not going to be very hard for me. I'm trying to decide if I want to port rbChron over to Android or start a new project altogether. I'll post again when I've made a decision on that little point.
Usually about this time I announce that the past year's articles have been moved to the archives. It is with a huge sigh of relief that I can say that this is now handled automatically and I'll never have to manually create another blog template again unless I feel like it. Over the next year I"m going to be checking into what else I can automate. Also, I"m going to be checking into pluggable modules that I can install without having to write my own code for. While I love programming and I want to make this site as much my own as possible, there areas that I want to focus on and there are other areas of development that I either don't have the time yet to look at, or I have no interest whatsoever in. Django gives me the flexibility to choose what I want to do in these areas and I plan on taking full advantage of it. In addition to the above, I plan on finally getting around to revving rbChron again. Qt and Python have advanced enough to warrant at least another maintenance release and I'm itching to get back into some application programming again. It looks like I'm really going to have a lot to do this year!.
